We’ve been doing a round of recruiting lately, and the first announcement is that we have Gill White on board as our new Technical Project Manager.  As you can see, she’s already making herself at home!

With Chris heading up to Darwin, we needed another local Perth based project manager to help us deliver our projects here, and after a pretty long round of interviews and discussions with candidates, Gill rose to the top of the list with her background in environmental science, spatial analysis and project management.  In her own words, Gill has had an interesting career both here and in the UK:

As a Geography graduate I spent several years working as a GIS officer in local governments in the UK, analysing population growth, socio economic indicators and urban development.

I interspersed these roles with several backpacking adventures and, bitten by the travel bug, I applied for residency in Australia.  When I arrived in Perth I worked in spatial analysis roles in the Department of Indigenous Affairs and the Environmental Protection Authority.

I then studied for a Post Grad Diploma in Environmental Management and landed a job as an Environmental Officer with the Department of Water and Environmental Regulation. I’ve been very fortunate to spend the past 11 years immersed in the rivers of WA, assessing their ecological condition to underpin management of waterways and water resources. I wore many hats in my role including spatial analyst, environmental/senior scientist, project manager and program manager. I also worked with NRM groups on a variety of waterway and catchment management projects across the state.

I am really excited to be part of the team at Gaia Resources and to contribute my environmental, spatial and project management experience to create technology solutions that support the amazing work done by the environmental sector in Australia.

Outside of work I enjoy yoga, kayaking, snorkelling and fossicking on the beach for shells. My favourite holidays combine all these hobbies while camping on remote beaches in WA.
