Overview
In 2016, our team have developed a mobile app for the Department of Parks and Wildlife to showcase the Marine Parks around Western Australia. An update of the app in 2019 – coming very soon – will see the inclusion of National Marine Parks around Western Australia.
Via the app, you can discover Western Australia’s 13 marine parks and 24 Commonwealth marine parks. The app provides comprehensive information about each park, along with photographs and helpful information about which of the 72 marine wildlife species are present in each park. A spatially enabled ‘where am I?’ function allows park users to see which marine park zone they are in and what activities they can enjoy in each area, including fishing, even when offline or out of mobile phone range. The mobile app was developed for the iOS and Android operating systems.
