LREye is aerial imagery product offered by South Africa (and now Australia) based company Land Resources International.

The thing we found interesting about this company is that instead of operating a fleet of aircraft like most other aerial imagery vendors, these guys have all their imagery equipment contained in a “pod” that can be bolted on to an aircraft on location and then the system directs the pilot as to where he needs to fly. This means that deployment time and cost are both significantly lowered.

The image below is a 5cm resolution sample provided to us by LREye, you can see how much detail is in the imagery when you zoom in on something (like cars in the carpark!)

We have a couple of upcoming projects this year that we will be looking to involve these guys in, so that should give us a better idea how they stack up against the traditional imagery vendors.
